OUR STORY.
OUR MISSION.
HEARTFELT. UNCONDITIONAL. GIVING.
The Cancer Alliance of Marion County quickly determined our community has several gaps in the assistance of patients and families facing the diagnosis of this life-changing and deadly disease.
The creation of H.U.G.S Patient Assistance Program is spearheaded by a team of dedicated local law enforcement, firefighters, and H.U.G.S members who are focused on the common goal of filling these gaps.
This non-profit raises funds for the research, prevention, detection, and treatment of all forms of cancer and assists individuals and families whose lives have been adversely affected by it. Additionally, H.U.G.S. Charities, Inc. works towards winning the fight against cancer as well as raising awareness about this disease and sources of help and relief. Money raised is also donated to established local organizations and other causes with the same goal. HUGS serves the following purposes:
Fundraisers for cancer patients in need.
Qualifies plans to fit each person’s needs.
Distributes benefits according to care plans.
Assures our assistance is effective.
This corporation is organized including the making of contributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
H.U.G.S Patient Assistance Program raises funds throughout the year with events and individual donations – where every dollar raised in Marion County, stays in Marion County.
Mary Alice Adkison Oncology Nursing Fund
Mary Alice Adkison dedicated her entire life to helping others in the community that she grew up in and loved. It is fitting that her legacy will continue through the establishment of an Oncology Nursing Fund to financially assist nurses who are dedicated to the fight against cancer.
